About Us

Come as guests, leave as friends, return as family.

Bob and Cathy are the proud owners of Suches Adventures. We have been married for over 30 years and have 2 beautiful adult daughters. We were both born and raised in Connecticut. In 2004 we moved to the west coast of Florida and created roots and memories. After 25 years in corporate leadership roles, we purchased 16 acres of the most breathtaking and peaceful property in Suches, Georgia and dove into the deep end of building a glamping property amongst the Chattahoochee National Forest.

We are so excited to share this amazing place where you can unwind, unplug, listen to the nearby Toccoa River and breathe the clean mountain air. This area of north Georgia offers a ton of experiences, such as hiking, boating, fishing, hunting and many other outdoor activities.

PRIMITIVE SITE 3

We set up camp at site #3. We traveled from Florida and it was the half mark to our second destination. We got there late and had little time to set up before we lost daylight. Thank goodness there were multiple wagons so we could carry everything together. It was gorgeous night sky with tons of visual stars which is something we don’t see very often because of the light pollution where we are from. We only had one issue with firewood but Bob came to the rescue and found us some dry would they had in storage. He talked to us and told us about the beautiful site they had to offer near by. It was so quiet out there we slept like logs. The grounds were beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Bob and Cathy for your hospitality. We hope to see you again soon. The drive to the spot and the drive out has lots of curves and beautiful scenery. If you get motion sickness make sure you have the tools because it’s a gorgeous drive.

Donna is the STAR of this whole place! Her warm, comforting smile is the first welcome you receive and boy is that the icing on top. I’m addition, the whole setup is perfect! Clean bath/toilet house, whimsical walking trail with so many treasures to find along the way. Each glamping unit has its own fire pit, eight chairs and picnic table. There’s a plethora of outdoor games, ample parking and even primitive camping spots. There is a little creek on the property that seasonal and plenty of shade. I can’t forget to mention the little general store has the basics, including firewood, hot coffee, camping supplies rental, and more! Works on the honor system so only honest people are allowed to stay here ;)

Playground

Unfortunately, there is no playground, but there is a whimsical hiking trail. That’s easy enough for a four-year-old to complete twice in a row.
Restrooms
A whole bath house with dedicated toilet, only stalls, full bathroom/shower stalls, equipped with super hot water, soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Bath towels available for glamping guests.
Dog-friendliness
Very dog friendly.

Picnic area

Each site has its own picnic table.

Our hosts, Bob and Kathy were super! Very responsive and explained everything we needed to know in detail. The tent was spacious with a comfortable bed; very clean. We had battery powered lights and charging stations, as well as a little space heater we used for brief periods to get the chill out in the evening. Outside we had comfortable chairs around the campfire ring as well as a picnic table. Bathroom facilities/showers were very clean and even had shampoo and body wash! The surroundings were what we expected from a mountain getaway; lots of hiking opportunities and exploring. Would definitely recommend this location and facility 😊

We had a magical time on our weekend away in Suches. My husband, two daughters and I stayed in the Skeenah tent and had the best time. The glampsites are perfect for families with young kids. Plenty of space even with our pack-n-play. The bathrooms are close and so clean and private, which was really great when you have littles. We enjoyed s’mores in our own firepit and loved hiking the nature trail on the property. The glampsites are set up so you don’t need much camping gear to make it enjoyable. They provide chairs, towels, linens, beds, etc. They had a battery pack that even operated lights and a fan/heater. The “outpost” is stocked with last-minute items you may need and some fun souvenirs. We had some heavy rain during our weekend, and the tent didn’t let in a drop. Bob & Cathy made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us throughout our stay. We had the best time and plan to be back again in the fall!

Suches adventures is a real treat. The hosts Bob and Cathy are absolutely awesome. The glamping tents are super cool, comfortable and roomy. Having a nice clean bath house with multiple showers and bathrooms is fantastic, it also has heat when it’s a little chilly out. It’s a great place to have a base camp and explore the area. 10/10 would recommend, my family and I will be back!

We came up from Florida and only had 3 days to spend but I wish it was longer. The hosts are super nice people and truly care about their camp and making it an awesome stay. They were very attentive and happy to assist however they could to make our vacation great. They even emailed me ahead of time to see when we’d be arriving so they could meet us. I was there for fly fishing and my wife for hiking and they had some great local knowledge for us and even checked in after to see how we did.

They really thought of everything for comfort and ease to make the camp great. They had rugged wagons to haul all our gear into the tent, there was a huge battery pack to charge our stuff and run lights, there was a powerful heater in the tent, they even had heaters in the bathrooms (which were very clean and nice). This was like staying in a hotel outside, tent is figurative. These tents are very big and comfortable, the bed was made up with sheets and blankets and pillows, there were lamps, super comfy chairs inside and outside, nice firepit with chairs and incredibly fast wifi which was perfect for us to map and plan things w no cell service in the area.

We brought way more stuff than we needed, not realizing how inclusive this camp was. They even provided towels and soap and shampoo. This place is perfect for someone like me who works 60+ hrs a week and doesnt have a ton of time to plan a vacation and usually short notice. It made a great super comfortable base for fly fishing adventures and hiking. There are lots of waterfalls in the area my wife was able to see while i fished. They cater to people that love the outdoors like us, if you fish, hunt, hike, and love the outdoors I cannot recommend this camp highly enough. They deserve 10 stars legitimately.

I will be coming here again FOR SURE for more fly fishing action.

The DNA of Suches Adventures

What is important to us?

  • We are an outdoor hospitality venue, aware and honor our beautiful and natural surroundings, and strive to protect the rich rural and community-centric history of Suches.
  • We tread lightly and strive to “Leave No Trace.” We aspire to Take only pictures. Leave only footprints.”
  • We actively support our community over profit. We commit to Appalachian Mountain life. We source, buy, and hire local. We always prefer “Made in America.”
  • We like nostalgia and history. We think ‘old’ is not bad. That includes conversations, attitudes, music, culture, traditions, and simple sustainable practices.
  • We respect, admire, and support our military, veterans, and community first responders.
  • We pursue sustainable practices and limit waste. We use the resources available to us as much as possible.
  • We do our best to slow the chaotic pace of life and embrace and enjoy the tranquility of our mountain environment.
  • We respect and protect the forests and wildlife, and observe from a distance – especially those that suffered from decimation in the late 1800’s.

We create an experience that combines Mother Nature’s best offerings – including freshwater rivers, fresh trout, crackling fires, mountain peaks, and crisp air – with the stimulation inherent in camping.
